Our Vision

A future where all biologists have equitable access to the reagents and tools they need to discover, build and innovate with biology.

Three Primary Missions

Starting Regional Reagent Hubs

Establish reagent hubs to easily share DNA parts and collections for local researchers to make affordable, reliable reagents and other enabling biotechnologies for research and innovation

Building the Reclone Community

Build a global community of biologists collaborating to share ideas and open source tools that will shape an equitable future for biotechnology that can benefit science, all people and our planet

Sharing what we know

Create a Repository of Open Access Education and Training Resources sharing experimental protocols, open software, and hardware designs – provided by community members, for community members.

History of Reclone

Reclone Founded

Reclone started in 2020 to convene researchers from around the world solving the challenges many biologists face in accessing reagents for research and diagnostics

2020

Reseach in Diagnostis Toolkit goes live

Reclone members developed the Research in Diagnostics Toolkit to support diagnostic innovation during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. This was synthesised and distributed globally to over 100 labs by Free Genes at Stanford University.

2021

Open DNA Collections

The Reclone community stewards the development and distribution of several open collections after Free Genes goes on hiatus, and convenes an active community through our forum, online events and fellowships.

2022

First Reagent Hubs Launch

Reclone Regional Reagent Hubs launch in Ghana, Argentina and the Philippines
